Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for Sale

The Truck Made to Order

The Silverado is offered in various mixes of features that include regular, extended and crew cab in 2WD and 4WD, plus short (5'8"), standard (6'6") and long (8') cargo space combinations. The official terms are WT (work truck), LS (crew cab), LT and LTZ. Each variant is presented in a basic form, but options are always available which further complicates consumer choices.

New Features

According to several reviews, the Silverado of did not depart much from that of 2007 model in terms of styling and features, aside from the restyling of the headlights from an eyebrow-looking design to a more common stacked arrangement framing a large grill. Less noticeable improvements include a more rakish windshield, taller and squared-off nose. The LT variant sports chrome bumpers, but the LTZs have bumpers colored the same as the body. New body colors range from dark cherry to deep ruby metallic.

Inside, the new Silverado has woven fabric ceiling liner surface and less plastic-looking vinyl items with more subdued luster. A satellite radio and rearranged instrument --with brighter pointers-- cluster sets the model apart from the 2007 one. The front seats legroom is greater, granted by pushed-farther-and-lower dashboard, which has a larger storage compartments. A between-seats lockable bin has been added as well, and also in the backrest/armrest. The crew cab variants also have split rear seats which can be raised to afford more under-seat storage, at the same time being more supportive and roomy.

Engine Power and Train

The engine is the same as the 2007models: 4.3L V6 and 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0 liter V8 displacements attached to 4-speed automatic transmissions. The 5.3L can run on E85 ethanol blend, which may mean some savings on fuel.

For suspension, the Silverado have migrated to the coil spring from the torsion bar for the front wheels. Meantime, the recirculating-ball has been replaced by the rack-and-pinion steering system.
