For boldness, power and creature comforts, the Dodge Ram 1500 can be the right truck for just about anyone. It is offered in three engines choices (3.7L V6 215hp, 4.7L V8 310hp and 5.7L V8 345hp), three styles of cabs (regular, quad and mega), four trims (ST, SXT, SLT, Laramie) and combinations, three wheelbases and two drive types (2WD, 4WD).

Dimensions

Regular Rams have 6.3 feet-long cargo beds, have 120.5 inches of wheelbase and are 207.7 inches long from nose to tail, so to speak. The other machines may have eight feet of cargo bed, 140.5 inches wheelbase and total length of 229.7 inches. Front-hinge doors and 85-degree openings for rear doors are available in 4-door Quad trims.

Improved steering linkage and electronic transfer case are the selling points for the new Dodge Ram, and those with Hemi engines have increased fuel-saving technology.

Features and Contents

The front seating can accommodate three people in a pinch with the 40/20-40 seat configuration; otherwise there is the center console for a laptop computer plus there is good under-seat storage space. Folding rear seats are included in Quad models; Laramie models have upscale leather upholstery as well adjustable pedals while the optional dark maple wood grain instrument panel and door panel styling make the model look and feel luxurious as a car.

Disc brakes for all wheels and rear-wheels ABS are regular features for most except for the Laramie which have 4-wheel ABS. Front airbags are standard, side airbags optional, as electronic stability system. Sway control for trailers is a newly-added feature.
