When Muscles Must be Flaunted
Only a few improvements have been introduced in the Dodge Ram 2500 over the previous year's model. Among the important ones are the introduction of a middle trim between the ST and SLT, the SXT; electric 4WD switch-on for the SLT and higher trims, diesel engines and 6-speed transmissions.
The Dodge Ram 2500 has a Hemi V8 engine as standard power source, with a choice between a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission options. A Cummins 6.7L Turbo Diesel is also optional along with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Trims and Choices
The ST models are the basic trims, with standard upholstery and vinyl floor, but with redesigned features that include bumpers, grille outline, climate control, ABS-equipped brakes, CD player, sun visor, tinted window glass. Options are rather confined to the engine and transmission, chassis part, side airbags and some superficial cosmetics.
Brighter additions and chrome were added to the new SXT trim that includes the wheels, power locks and windows, remote-control keyless entry, carpet and fabric upholstery and cruise control. The TRX4 add-ons are aluminum wheels, a different type of differential, skid plates, fog lamps, better shocks, and tow hooks.
Additional features for the SLT over the SXT are overhead console, power mirrors and speed control. Options and add-ons are power rear window, liner for the cargo bed, sunroof, adjustable pedals, power driver's seat, Sirius radio, navigation facilities, 6-cd MP3 player with speakers, and DVD system for the rear seat, stain-repellent fabric upholstery, wireless com system, bucket seats and some others. It makes the SLT almost as luxurious as the Laramie trim, the most upscale in the series.
Standard Safety Measures
There are also safety equipment standard in the Ram 2500 including dual front airbags, 3-point belts in all seats, child-seat anchors 4-wheel ABS and child-proof rear door locks.
All Rams have wide roomy interiors and much storage space.
